Brian Free and Assurance are perhaps the best example of today’s mainstream Southern Gospel music and their new album, “Real Faith” shows them at their best. Their music can be described as “modern traditional”. They take the best of the classic quartet sound and make it modern. The result is a sound that defines what today’s mainstream Southern Gospel music is all about. Great vocals blended in harmony wrapped around lyrics that unmistakably glorify God over music that never overshadows the message or the vocal presentation.
Brian Free and Assurance consists of founder, owner, and manager Brian Free. He was the original tenor for Gold City. He has received the Singing News fan award for “Favorite Tenor” seven times.
Brian is joined by Derrick Selph, former baritone of the Dixie Meldoy Boys. Jeremy Lile formerly of Crystal River sings bass. Bill Shivers sings lead. He formerly sang with the group HeavenBound. The band members that round out Brian Free and Assurance are Brian Free’s son, Ricky, who plays drums. Scott McDowell is the group’s piano player.
The first single released to Southern Gospel radio is the up tempo song, “Praying Man”. This song was written by Ronnie Hinson, one of the all time great song writers. “Real Faith” contains a second song written by Ronnie Hinson entitled, “We Will Sing”. Other songwriters included on the “Real Faith” album include Marty Funderburk, Tony Wood, Chris Binion, Hope Glaze, Barry Weeks and Jim Brady.
“Real Faith” contains ten songs that show Brian Free and Assurance at their best. The tight harmonies are highlighted by music that is refreshing
and crisp without being over powering. The song selection, always a strength for Brian Free, is wonderful. Barry Weeks does a great job as the producer. This is a CD that will not disappoint.

Lyrics to Southern Gospel Songs From Brian Free and Assurance's "Real Faith"
Praying Man
Written by Ronnie Hinson As performed by Brian Free and Assurance From the CD, “Real Faith”
Once there was a king that thought he got it right Daniel won’t last until the morning light They led him to the dungeon and they threw him in He was on his way to supper and the meal was him But God knew how to change their dinner plans Never throw a hungry lion in the den with a praying man
Chorus So pray Daniel Pray That’s the way you make through
Come on pray Daniel pray Don’t you let the devil get the best of you Your troubles aren’t as bad as you thought they were You can tame a lion, let your prayers be heard Your faith is going to have them eating right out of your hands Never throw a hungry lion in a den with a praying man
When you hear their stomachs growling do what Daniel did Call up to your Father like a little kid Tell Him that they are big and you just heard them roar Then get up and use your faith to block the door When the fur starts flying they will understand Never throw a hungry lion in the den with a prayin’ man
Chorusx2 Never throw a hungry lion in a den with a prayin’ man Never throw a hungry lion in a den with a prayin’ man
Real Faith
Written by Marty Funderburk and Tony Wood As performed by Brian Free and Assurance From the CD, “Real Faith”
Not some tragic struggle Not some endless search Just the story of some kids growing up in church We took in every moment With open eyes and ears And one day took to heart what we saw in those years And we saw....
Chorus Real people with real struggles Real lives bruised in real ways And there was real joy And real hope And through it all we found real faith
We count it as a blessing to know such strength and peace Oh not that they were perfect but they lived with honesty And the evidence we witnessed daily in each life Helped pave the way for us to embrace the love of Christ And we knew...
Chorus
Remind us oh Father That around us every day The innocent eyes are watching May they see our lives and say I see....
Chorus And through it all we found real faith
