Midnight Cry stands as one of the all time greats in Southern Gospel music. Originally recorded by Gold City with Ivan Parker as the lead vocal, Midnight Cry has been recorded by many artists in many genres. The Midnight Cry accompaniment track

I asked Ivan Parker if he knew that this song was going to be a big hit when he first heard it. He smiles, “When I brought this one (Midnight Cry) to the table, I’ll never forget, Eldridge Fox reached over and grabbed a pen and wrote #1 on the lyrics sheet.”.

Ivan Parker still performs “Midnight Cry” at his concerts and does a wonderful job at making it sound new each time. “It’s honestly a fresh message to me”, Ivan replies when asked how he keeps the song sounding fresh. “It’s like you are singing about something that hasn’t happened yet. You’ve still got to tell the story.”

“I know how much people love that song (Midnight Cry)”, Ivan reflects, “and I know how much it’s blessing me., so there are a lot of times when I’m feeling what they’re feeling”. After hearing Ivan Parker sing this song several times, I believe he’s feeling it as much as the audience. It’s a wonderful song that

blesses me every time I hear it!

I enjoy just about every version of this song that I have every heard. I enjoy hearing large chiors do this song as much as the original version.
