JD Sumner, as the force behind JD Sumner and the Stamps was perhaps one of the most influential people in all of Gospel music. Setting trends with their unique vocal style, energetic performances, and attention to detail, JD Sumner and the Stamps helped to take Southern Gospel music top the next level. That next level included working with Elvis Presley during his concerts, films and recordings. One of my favorite JD Sumner songs is “The Old Country Church”.
