The Whisnants are one of Southern Gospel music’s top groups. With eight number one songs to their credit a new release from them is always much anticipated. The release of
their latest album, “Promises” shows this wonderful group in top form. The twelve songs on the “Promises” album cover a variety of topics and styles with something to please all of their fans.
The Whisnants have been singing Southern Gospel music for over thirty-five years. The current line up includes Jeff and Susan Whisnant, Aaron Hise and Eric Ollis. Jeff and Susan’s two sons, Ethan and Austin, also join them on the album. The album was produced by Mylon Hayes and includes some of the industry's top musicians including Gary Prim
on piano and keyboards, Kelly Back on electric guitar, Kevin Grant on Bass, Steve Brewster on drums, Sonny Garrish on steel guitar, and Aubrey Haynie on fiddle.
The first single from the new album is called, “The Light of the Lamb”. This up-tempo song was written by Twila LaBar and Tony Wood whom have written some of the finest Southern Gospel lyrics ever penned. Jeff takes the lead and drives the encouraging, joyful message of this song home.

The Light of the Lamb
Twila LaBar & Tony Wood
As performed by The Whisnants
From the album, “Promises”
This world is full of trouble
Seems like everywhere we go
We’re living beneath the shadow
Of much sorrow here below
But soon we’ll see His splendor
Like we’ve never seen before
Oh we’re waiting for the day
When dark of night will be no more
Chorus
The light of the Lamb will shine brighter than the sun
The great I Am will welcome us, we’ll hear Him say “Well done”
For 10,000 years we’ll sing His praise, as if we’d just begun
When the light of the Lamb
Oh the light of the Lamb
Yes the light of the Lamb
Will shine brighter than the sun
A day will last forever
In that city over there
And what a day when finally
We lay down our every care
It’s the end of every shadow
The end of every hidden thing
As we stand together in the brilliant glory of our King
Chorus twice
For 10,000 years we’ll sing His praise as if we’d just begun
When the light of the Lamb
Oh the light of the Lamb
Yes the light of the Lamb
Will shine brighter than the sun
